Nivaagaards Teglværk & LERGAVSSØERNE

Right next to Nivå Camping lies the old Brickworks and Clay Pits, a unique area full of history and natural beauty.

Nivaagaards Teglværk is a historic brickworks located in Nivå, Denmark. Founded in 1853, it was one of the major brick production sites in the region and operated for over a century.

North of Nivaagaards Teglværk, you’ll find three large lakes and several smaller ones. These were once active clay pits, used until around 1920, when storm waters from the Øresund breached the dike.

Today, the area is a wonderful place to enjoy nature and outdoor activities. Walking paths and a birdwatching tower offer close encounters with the rich wildlife, including elusive kingfishers. The lakes, some as deep as 15 meters, are home to freshwater fish like pike, perch, and roach. If you wish to fish, please see our fishing guide below.

With Nivå Camping as your base, the Old Clay Pits are just a short stroll away — perfect for a morning walk.
